I-35 at Braker Lane reopens after crash Editor's note: The above video shows a traffic report from 8:57 a.m. Monday. AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Interstate 35 was reopened after a crash closed all northbound lanes at Braker Lane Monday morning. The TxDOT Austin X account posted about the crash at 8:44 a.m. and said traffic was being diverted to the frontage road at Rundberg Lane. REAL TIME TRAFFIC MAP By 9:25 a.m., a TxDOT camera at the location showed the scene was cleared and traffic was passing through. KXAN reached out to the Austin Police Department for details and will update this story if we receive more information.

Highland man sentenced to 56 years on rape charges KINGSTON, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Charles Burgher, 32, of Highland, was sentenced to 56 years in state prison following a four-day jury trial in October. Burgher was accused of sexually assaulting a child between August and November 2022. Burgher and the victim’s family were neighbors in Highland. On November 7, the mother of the victim filed a missing person’s report when her child did not return home from school.Investigations resulted in law enforcement responding to the 9W Motel in Lake Katrine. Burgher was taken into custody following a five-and-a-half-hour standoff. The child was recovered safely and brought to a hospital where a sexual assault nurse examiner collected forensic evidence. Teenage suspects arrested in killing of liquor store clerk in West Covina Two men suspected in the October killing of a liquor store clerk in West Covina have been arrested and booked, police said Monday. The homicide occurred on Oct. 8, when 34-year-old Karanvir Singh was killed at Big Bob's Liquor store. A 17-year-old juvenile was arrested two days after the killing. 1 dead, 2 injured in wrong-way crash in Baldwin Hills A wrong-way crash in Baldwin Hills killed one person and hospitalized two others late Sunday night.A vehicle was headed south in the northbound lanes of La Cienega Boulevard at about 11:20 p.m. when it collided with a northbound vehicle near the intersection with Obama Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.A third vehicle then hit the already-crashed first two vehicles.Three people were taken to local hospitals. A person who had been riding in the wrong-way vehicle succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, while the other two's conditions are not yet known.An investigation is ongoing, and it remains to be seen if alcohol or a medical emergency played a role in the crash, police said. CAL FIRE arson arrests on pace for lowest since 2019 CAL FIRE's law enforcement officers are on pace to make the fewest number of arson arrests in four years. As of Nov. 30, 101 arson-related arrests had been made in 2023, according to a CAL FIRE Instagram post. If the pace continues through December, the department will have made around 110 arrests for the year.That number would be 10 fewer than were made in 2020.CAL FIRE arrests since 2016:2023* 1012022 1622021 1492020 1202019   702018   612017   862016   73*As of Nov. 30, 2023"This mission is crucial in bringing to justice those who endanger lives and/or property in our state," CAL FIRE stated.Anyone who sees suspicious fires or activities was urged to report them anonymously to the Arson Hotline at 800-468-4408.
