SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korea on Thursday conducted its first intercontinental ballistic missile launch in a month, possibly testing a new type of more mobile, harder-to-detect weapons system, its neighbors said, in an extension of the North’s provocative run of missile tests. The launch prompted Japan to issue an evacuation order on a northern island, and though it was later retracted, it shows the vigilance of North Korea’s neighbors over its evolving missile threats.South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staffs said the missile launched on a high angle from near the North Korean capital of Pyongyang fell in the waters between the Korean Peninsula and Japan following a 1,000 kilometer (620 miles) flight. Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 04:24:15 GMT

SAN FRANCISCO — The Giants did not literally fall apart Wednesday, though with injuries to Michael Conforto and Bryce Johnson it might have felt like it, but things started to metaphorically crumble in the sixth inning of their rubber match against the Dodgers.A tied game when Taylor Rogers took over at the start of the sixth, the inning began with four straight free passes, including one on a pitch-clock violation and another on the losing end of a 15-pitch battle, and ended with the Giants in a five-run hole after a big shot by — who else? — Max Muncy, the Giant killer who homered two more times and has done so against San Francisco more times than any other player in the majors since 2018.The Giants lost, 10-5. They dropped two of three to the Dodgers, who won’t visit Oracle Park again until the last home stand of the season. By then, who knows if the Giants will still be in contention, but they have to hope, at least, that it won’t be as dreadful as their first set o...
